The 2025-3 new version features a new cassette door.
The product linked here is a DIY kit that requires self-assembly (those with basic electronics skills should purchase this).
The built-in mono head requires a dual-channel version (note: using the dual-channel head without a replacement will result in hum and noise).
The power supply is a 6V power transformer.
A single-player version and a dual-player/recorder version are available, depending on your needs.
The output requires connection to an amplifier. The output signal is pre-amplified and requires an amplifier for sound.
Available in black or gray faceplates, shipped randomly.
The erase head for the recording version uses a permanent magnet, meaning it doesn't require wiring.
Recording operation: Connect the audio signal to be recorded, and press the Play and Record buttons simultaneously to begin recording.
Head replacement instructions:
1: Remove the four screws securing the cassette deck. Then press the Stop button on the cassette deck. Open the cassette door (note: the cassette deck cannot be removed without the door). Remove the two button-securing screws on either side of the cassette deck. Remove the screw on the left side of the cassette head. The screw on the right side adjusts the head angle; loosen it slightly. Then pull the cassette head to the left. Install the dual-channel cassette head, solder the wires, and adjust the head angle (using the screw on the right).
2. To replace the magnetic head without removing the movement buttons: Press the play button and remove the screw on the left side of the magnetic head. The screw on the right side adjusts the magnetic head angle and needs only to be loosened slightly. Then, pull the magnetic head to the left, install the dual-channel magnetic head, solder the wires, and adjust the magnetic head angle (using the screw on the right side).
Note: After replacing the magnetic head, be sure to adjust the magnetic head angle properly. Failure to do so may result in fuzzy playback, imbalanced left and right channels, and other issues. The magnetic head angle can also be adjusted after installation in the gap between the cassette compartment doors (this requires a small screwdriver).
